Barbara Hawkins from Newport says:
This is the most important election for many years as there is so much in the balance. Like the colonisation of this country by immigrants, the breakdown of society, the wet nursing of criminals, and the breakdown of the traditional family which is the backbone of our future. Labour is not the party of the working class, in fact it treats the working class like halfwits by it's patronising attitude. If Labour get in for another term, in ten years time there will be poverty on a scale not seen in this country since the middle ages. I am a working class Mother and grandmother and I implore all you young Mothers out there to vote conservative. Remember the proverb 'God helps those who help themselves'.

Another 5 years of Labour! I couldn't imagine anything worse!

Sherry from Ashford says:
I notice no one bothered to ask the UKIP what they were planning. If anyone is interested in common sense ,look up their very reasonable Manifesto. Free to read online. "UKIP Election Manifesto" will find it on any search engine. There is nothing to choose between the Lib-Lab-Cons.God knows why they all look so smug; they`ve all had a go and made a hash of it in one way or another. At least UKIP are willing to tackle immigration in a sensible way and save us the £45million we are throwing at the EU on a daily basis. It`s time we looked after our own country, for a change. We can no longer bankroll the rest of the world, while they buy arms and feud amongst themselves.

James Sprigss from Bournmouth says:
Cost of fuel/Power/Heating - Why has no one addressed this? Indirect taxation through the roof - Why is this? Millions of people out of work and not being forced into work - but on the other hand the benefits system encourages both the workshy and employers to offer low wages knowing that the government will subsidise their low wages - which the rest of us are paying for via taxes. Immigration - The Lib Dmes & Labour see nothing worng with mass immigration and are even encouraging it - no doubt to secure future votes - But we cannot afford it. The legal system in this country is out of control - We have convicted paedophiles who are able to use Legal Aid to attempt to get their names remove their names from the Sex Offenders register - all in the name of fair play - The only fair play here is the lawyers who are getting a shed load of our money for doing something almost all of us would prefer they did not. I don't know that the answer is but it isn't Labour the Lib Dems or the Tories

Nathan from Peterhead says:
What a lot of narrow minded people there are out there!! Is there war to help one person living in the Midlands or is it to reduce world terrorism and save thousands of lives? Is the election to secure a better end for the people in Cornwall only or the whole of the UK? Don't just think one policy and yourself, think all the policies and what will make a better UK.

sandeep from birmingham says:
i do not understand what is going now a days. i mean what is going on in the war, more and more boys and men r dying all because tony blair started this war. all i want to know is that when is the war going to end. and what is going with the budget r u people going to keep putting the price of petrol and everything else every year. it is pathetic.

JORI ANSELL from Hayle, Cornwall says:
The electoral system is weighted against the smaller parties like Mebyon Kernow, The Party for Cornwall. We are contesting all the seats in Cornwall (six) but do not qualify for a Party Political Broadcast which requires a party to contest 1/6 of the seats up for election. The 3 large parties are guaranteed at least 2 broadcasts. Full marks to ASDA for making their website available to the smaller parties.

From Tory to Labour from Eltham says:
I'm from a reasonably well off background and I have always voted conservative. But I'm a mum who loves her family and country. It would be crazy just when we are making a recovery to jump to the conservatives who want to make harsh cuts that will damage the economy now. I want the good schools that Labour have built to keep helping my kids. I want Britain to remain a global power and I want us all to keep the great benefits that Labour have introduced over the year such as the NHS and minimum wage. I beg you all; don't throw our country back to the 80s. Vote Labour; vote for Britain. I was once a strong tory but I simply cannot back a clown like 'Dave'. Please keep Gordon Brown in!

Emma Blair from Newcastle Upon tyne says:
Shame we can`t have a combination of Lib Dem & Labour...long time since a hung Parliament though, Totally agree with Sharealam about the miners strikes, poll tax etc we are in the North East..where many mining communities were wiped out thanks to the Tories. Spirit stayed though
Apr 14, 2010 at 10:26 PM
Jane from Midlands says:
To Emma; sounds to me you need one of the stronger parties, ENP, BNP or UKIP the Conservatives are too much in pockets of those in Finance, and will continue to make the rich richer - not what you wanted when you voted Labour in, eh? To Ian: England may well be suffering like others in this recession, but we were first in and last out helped along no doubt by Gordon's keen eye on the Financial ball and the W(izard) (b)ankers kicking it. Bit of an 'own goal' with the gold as well . .

Paulie from Glasgow says:
Do not vote for Labour, I was in a very good job and progressing well then two months ago I was made redundant and now finding it very hard to get another even just a general job to pay the bills. It is a total disgrace how this country is run, when Tories were in the chair it was a great country no problems.

Emma-Jayne from Warrington says:
. I too was at school when the Tories were last in and it was a blooming good education system then, when exams were hard and discipline was tough, there was very little truancy, bullying or violence and certainly no weapons in school because the Tory government had some guts and ensured there were consequences. We didn't have to pay for a university education either. Poll tax was fair, my Mum was on her own bringing me up, paying the same rates as a family across the road who had 5 wage earners, no-one thinks about sitiuations like that when they're criticizing the poll tax. Crime up? Well I dont remember being accosted by a 15 year old with a knife when the Tories were in and being told by the Police that the boy would get 'a telling off' because the softy Labour Government have taken all the power from the police and given it to the criminals! My family were directly involved with the miners strike but they got looked after and got massive redundancies and re trained for new careers, what has everyone who has lost their jobs in this recession got from Labour? Nothing! Vote anything but Labour on May 6!!!

IAN from birmingham says:
hi, to everybody . Before you cast your vote , remember this .....the worst part of our problems in th uk were caused by the banks and it all started in the U.S.A. ...Of course the labour party are in government at this time. They were dished up this massive problem as were ALL OTHER WORLD WIDE GOVERNMENTS ....This generally meant we needed a government to sort the problem out. Now if it was a conservative government in power now , dished up this massive world...NOT JUST U.K. problem ,they would have headed down the same road to protect jobs as far as possible, protect our homes, challenge credit card companies and still maintain GENUINE benefits to the disabled and so on .....otherwise they would seriously risk being elected also. its not a good thing for a country being indebt ..but its worldwide, and i honestly believe that the labour party have given us in the better years previous to now , a fair decent lifestyle, helping the needy as well -i do disagree with imigration issues as we all do ,but over the years we who work and those that cannot have been supported as best as can be. Remember when you vote that conservatives screwed the working man and the introduction of poll tax and also destroying men who were , and thier wives happy with court maintenance procedures for seperated partners. This in turn destroyed ammicable agreements and created pure hostility between split partners and children no doubt suffered as a result.--and that cuts very deep with me. This is a world problem , not a labour government problem , but we are rising above it , job losses are going down , trade is getting better which means more work for everyone..yep taxes etc are a pain , but all in all ----and i know we know gordon brown does not have the charm of tony blair but all said and done ...he is figure man working against the world financial problem ,i dont personally like the way he speaks but i reckon the conservatives would be in the same position had they been in power ...i say 'stick to the devil you know' ...we are already heading out of this mess .!!-----Yes with a debt ..like every other country but it is happening under labour ....read , digest and think about it ..change the route now and we could end up in a recession exclusive to the U.K. when every other country climbs out of it . Stick with it -bite the bullet and keep smiling - we are british . Thanks for listening regards to all ian

Michael barlow from derby says:
Its not exactly heaven now is it? People out of work no jobs around prices going up wages staying the same or going down in some cases taxes going up and debts rising through the roof and as for poll tax do you honestly think that thing you call council tax isn't the exact same thing? All parties are capable of making mistakes and they will whoever we vote for but the only thing i personally feel is right is just to vote for which ever party best appeals to you but base your idea's on the whole party not just the random unthought out rant of one man especially with stupid comments such as gordon browns "i was brought up in a middle class family" And thats supposed to make you understand the lives of those who are struggling how ? people like myself wouldn't even entertain putting ourselves in a class because for 1 its not important having money and bigger houses cars etc..it does not make anyone a better person and i think they would all do well to learn that. ok rant over may the best party win !!
